Melbourne Psychotherapy & Trauma Healing

Integrating Psychotherapy & Somatic Experiencing® trauma healing

healing through relationship

awareness and the wisdom of the body

Melbourne Psychotherapy and Trauma Healing, eM-PATH, is home to a group of experienced independent psychotherapists who specialise in working somatically with trauma. We are relational gestalt psychotherapists, art therapists, transpersonal therapists practicing Somatic Experiencing, EMDR and Sensorimotor trauma healing

Our work is grounded in the understanding that healing occurs through relationship, integrated with nervous system regulation as the foundation for lasting change.

At eM-PATH, we apply these principles not only in our work with clients, but within our practitioner community. We believe that a practice which supports therapists to work with depth, sustainability, and genuine presence creates the conditions for exceptional care.

resolving trauma and supporting growth

Our work is grounded in cultural humility, respect for lived experience, and collaboration, with care shaped to each client’s unique needs and identities. At eM-PATH you’re welcome exactly as you are.

attachment based, person centred and body focused

eM-PATH operates from the Abbotsford Convent - Melbourne, as well as the Sweetwater Wellness Collective in Frankston South; servicing inner Melbourne as well as Bayside, Casey and the Mornington Peninsula.

Some of our specialisations include development and attachment issues, chronic illness, long covid, CFS / ME, gender and diversity, relationship challenges, and burnout.

Nervous system regulation and healing relationships start with our practitioners; I believe the best care grows from practitioners who are supported to work with depth, integrity, and sustainability. By creating a practice that nourishes those who provide therapy, that quality of care naturally extends to the people they work with.

At eM-PATH, we apply these principles not only in our work with clients, but within our practitioner community. We believe that a practice which supports therapists to work with depth, sustainability, and genuine presence creates the conditions for exceptional care.

We help people move towards greater aliveness through relationship, embodied awareness, and the integration of difficult experiences.

Relational Gestalt Psychotherapy

Many of us carry ways of relating that once helped us adapt, but no longer serve us. Relational Gestalt Psychotherapy offers a space to become aware of these patterns, understand how they developed, and discover new ways of connecting to oneself and others.

is a collaborative, experiential approach to therapy that focuses on the relationship between therapist and client as a foundation for growth and healing. It explores how past experiences, current relationships, emotions, and patterns of relating influence your life today. By developing greater awareness in the present moment, Relational Gestalt Psychotherapy supports meaningful change, deeper self-understanding, and more authentic ways of connecting with yourself and others.

  • The impact of Sophie's work with me has been long-lasting. I am now able to talk openly about my past trauma and react to everyday scenarios without my nervous system being triggered. Her gentle, genuine and compassionate nature is incredibly refreshing. What stands out to me is her ability to respond on a human level to what I brought to each session and we were even able to have a laugh together. I have Sophie to thank for helping me get to this point where I feel comfortable in my daily life and am no longer held back by the past.

  • Thank you for our session today. It was remarkable! See you next week.

    —Former Customer

  • My sessions with Sophie were to help me find some resolution and meaning following a cancer diagnosis and 8 months of treatment. I found that Sophie's techniques centered on the body were amazingly helpful, compared to other kinds of therapy I have tried. The bodywork took me out of thinking about my problems and thinking about what the answer should be, instead bringing me an unexpected level of understanding and freedom. I felt totally cared for and supported when we discussed my issues and I appreciated how Sophie always guided our sessions with my desired outcomes in mind. Every session, I felt a positive shift and a step closer to getting my life back on track. Sophie is a very skilled, kind, sensitive practitioner who I highly recommend!

  • Thank you Sophie for making our sessions so insightful and enjoyable!

    —Sati

  • Dear Sophie, I want to thank you from my soul and heart for the support, empathy, kindness, compassion and commitment you offered to me during our therapeutic process. You communicated with me, and held space for me, with attentiveness, gentleness and firmness. You supported my ability to explore and accept myself in my many forms. Some things are too complex to find words for, but to put it plain: You are an amazing therapist! Thank you so much for everything. I am truly grateful to the universe.

  • When I first started seeing Sophie, I was a mess - I had undiagnosed PTSD and my stress levels were starting to impact my physical health in some pretty scary ways. From my first appointment, Sophie offered a welcoming, grounded presence that helped me feel safe enough to gradually tune into how it felt to be in my body. I never felt pushed or rushed. At the end of our time together, I'm now much more able to notice early signals that I am headed towards distress or overwhelm, and have tools to help me settle back into the present.
